How Little We've Come

It amazes me how little the human condition changes over time. Take for instance Rahm Emanuel's recent gaff when he used the word retarded. I remember kids on the playground using this to pick on other kids years ago when I was young, and yet it is still in use today. Surely we have better adjectives in our vocabulary that will get across our meaning without singling out a sector of society. What ever happened to "If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything?" Can't we all accept each other and welcome their diversity as a possible asset, rather than seek ways to tear each other down? What say you?

Hello Again

Wow, can you believe another Christmas has come and gone. Now we are in the beginnings of yet another New Year. Hopefully this new decade will provide hope and prosperity for so many who have fallen upon hard times. It seems the economic stimulus package did nothing to boost the economy, and with the 2010 elections fast approaching, will there be a shift in power? The more important question is, shift or no-shift, will the economy improve to the point of its once strong stature? I, for one, am disenchanted with both parties. I don't care whether they call themselves Republican or Democrat, I want solutions. What say you?
